Beyonce Returns To Her African Roots

Recently, there has been quite a media circus over Beyonce's lighter completion and bleached hair.
I have to agree, lately she has been looking paler and paler by the day!

To show that black is still and forever shall be in vogue, Beyonce did a tribal,african-inspired shoot for a Paris based magazine, L'Officiel. For this photo shoot, Beyonce voluntarily wore dark, heavy make-up and said that she was 'paying homage African Queens'....(the likes of yours trully, of course LOL) and further said she was 'returning to her African roots'. Way to go B*.!

This makes a HUGE statement!

Very Fierce!!

It can't get more tribal than this.! *loves*

Wow, this is amazing. I love me some Bey.!

Dear Thula Sindi, I WANT This Dress!

When I first saw this dress, I knew I would own it, talk about LOVE at first sight!

Dear Thula Sindi, when can we have it done?

There is absolutely nothing about this dress that I do not love. Of course, we would change it here and there (possibly change the color) but it is perfect in soooo many ways.

Let Us Keep The Libyans In Our Hearts, Thoughts and Prayers

As you go home tonight, remember our sister country Libya and keep her in your hearts, prayers and thoughts.

Attend The Design Indaba Expo 2011 If You Are In Cape Town

Right at this very moment I wish I worked for those creative companies who would fly me to Cape Town for the Design Indaba 2011, just to attend the Fashion show, the rest I can miss.

What is Design Indaba Expo? Well in a nutshell, Design Indaba Expo is a 100 percent local celebration of South Africa's creativity. It involves ALL possible areas of creativity. That is: architecture, craft, deco, film, FASHION, graphic design, interior design, jewelery, new media, publishing, product design and visual media. Its a chance for South African creatives to showcase their work at 'sort of' international platform. Isn't South Africa amazing ?

This expo will run from the 24th (Today) to the 27th of February 2011 at the Cape Town International Convention Center and tickets are available at Computicket from as little at R60.00 Why is this not in Jo'burg again? *sigh*

Wedding Invites Are The Best....OR Are They?

This morning, I was busy thinking of what to blog about and as luck would have it, my dear darling friend Kat invited me to his sister's wedding. I cannot tell you how excited I am, haven't been to a wedding in like......ever *OK, I'm exaggerating* !!

Been raking my mind (OK, I might be stressing) about what to wear (the wedding is this Saturday afternoon). Do you know what always baffles me? How can a person, like myself, with a wardrobe full of clothes AND SHOES, not have something to wear EVERYTIME she is invited somewhere?! I know what to wear, I just don't have it in my wardrobe. *sigh*

Kinda how I am feeling right now.!

This only means one thing....yeah you guessed right, S-H-O-P-P-I-N-G! *Huge grin*

Dear Universe, just putting it out there: I need to run into these things ( especially the gold dress) on Saturday morning when I go shopping for what to wear at the wedding. Thank you.

Come Saturday mid-day, my short-natural hair will be this honey blonde.

Do you also go through the "I_don't_have_anything_to_wear" panic mode? I'd like to think I am perfectly normal.

Moment Of Silence + Standing Ovation For Beyonce's Shoes

We will have a moment of silence, followed by a standing ovation thereafter which we shall erect a national monument for the Christian Louboutins Beyonce was wearing last night at the 2011 NBA All-Star Game.!

That will be all.!

How David Tlale Shut Down Nelson Mandela Bridge

The very much anticipated David Tlale show, which was the last one for the Jo'burg Fashion Week 2011 - Autumn/Winter Colletion happened on Saturday evening at the Iconic Nelson Mandela Bridge.

You have got to be a great person to shut down Nelson Mandela bridge and it is without a doubt that David Tlale is that great person. Even though I did not attend the show, I was worried about the moody Jozi weather. It started drizzling then it rained a bit after which there was some seriously cold breeze.
From reading everyone's tweets on this show, one can conclude that the crowd was not to happy about being kept waiting for over two hours in the cold. Show was scheduled to start at 22:30PM on Saturday and ONLY started on 00:15AM on SUNDAY morning.!  People were literally freezing their A S S es off. Needless to say, many people were very unimpressed by this "Drama King" stunt pulled by David Tlale. Even Dion Chang blogged about it this morning,I quote: "Fashion will forever be fickle. Never toy with people's loyalty, and NEVER let the show become more important than your craft." Anyhoo, one can only hope that David Tlale has learnt something about being fashionably late from all the bad publicity he is receiving post the show.

Here are some of the 92 garments that David Tlale was showcasing:

I guess you can't always belee da hype or can you?

I LOVE Africa - Gimme More Of That!

Africa, our continent is by far thee most colorful and most vibrant of them all. I love being African and I don't mean the 'motherland-African-American-love' kinda way, I mean the real deal.!
The Culture-Rich continent of ours

Recently, I have found myself constantly drawn towards African inspired materials. I think I am going through some unconscious evolution - first it was cropping my hair then cutting it off completely and keeping it natural. Now I want to change my wardrobe to be more inspired by our lovely continent, Africa.

The lovely African sunset.

I want more of this in my wardrobe:

Give me more of Stoned-Cherrie in my wardrobe!

I want, I want, I want!!

Let my wardrobe be filled with more Ituen Basi, PLEASE.!

How awesome are these designs? Even paler skinned people rock 'em like that!

Agreed, that's some fantastic collision of worlds.!

In two months, this will be my daily way of dressing.

These shoes, these shoes man.......they were meant for showing off. Walking on them, well, its an added benefit!

One of my recently acquired burning goals , is to travel around Africa, I mean all around Africa. First up is .....Botswana then Zimbabwe. I would love to do Kenya right after Zim, gotta make that dough to afford all of this.
